Verification scams

Avoid ‘verification’ downloads, browser plugins, and off‑platform payment traps.

What to watch for

• “Age verification” links sent via DM.
• Requests to install a browser extension, APK, or “security tool.”
• Payment requests to “confirm identity” off‑platform.

Safe behavior

1. Only verify through the platform’s official settings page.
2. Never install software from a link someone sent you.
3. Keep a dedicated browser profile for adult sites (fewer cross‑leaks).

If you installed something

• Uninstall it, remove suspicious browser extensions, and run a malware scan.
• Change passwords and enable 2FA.
• Consider resetting the dedicated browser profile.
